Many established communities across the country face complex economic, physical and social infrastructure problems that can limit their ability to become vital, resilient, and sustainable. Our Community Development Workgroup is dedicated to helping these communities by using a multi-disciplinary approach to assist in achieving revitalization outcomes. Our approach draws on the expertise of economists, public policy specialists, environmental scientists, urban planners, landscape architects and community involvement facilitators. Working in collaboration these professionals seek to develop reuse plans that: draw upon the unique history, character and context of a site; involve authentic efforts to achieve stakeholder consensus; clearly identify the resources, alliances and partnerships that will help make the reuse plan a reality; and, perhaps most importantly, that strengthen local capacity for ongoing revitalization efforts.
